Thank you for your service, Officer Gooley!

Jason Todd Gooley, 03/11/1977 - 12/09/2014, Jason passed on to dwell in the house the Lord had built for him after a valiant battle with colon cancer. Jason's love and devotion to his family, friends, church and community supported him during his fight. These caring individuals also helped him in his final hours to find peace within the Lord.

Jason was born March 11, 1977 to Dave and Linda (Blanchard) Gooley in Royal Oak MI. A strong and silent young man, Jason grew up in Waterford MI and graduated from Waterford Mott High School where he made many of his lifelong friends, some of whom followed him to Lansing to begin their secondary education. Jason graduated with an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement from Lansing Community College and also received his Police Academy Certificate on May 9, 2003. Shortly thereafter Jason began his career with the Grand Ledge Police Department as a Police Officer and was later promoted to Detective.

Jason is survived by his loving wife, Sara and amazing daughter, Madeline, his parents, David and Linda Gooley, brothers, Seth (Amy) and Josh (Daniell) Gooley, Grandmother Jane Blanchard, Godmother, Mary Lou Prevost, Aunt Laurie (Carl) Patterson, Aunt Deborah (Dave) Richards, Uncle Dick (Rose) Gooley and nephew Hayden Gooley. In-Laws, Richard Walker, Tyna and Todd Smith, sister in law, Laura Elizabeth Walker, brothers in law, Rich (Traci) Walker, Paul (Stephanie) Walker, Mitchell (Casey) Smith, Kyle (Jessica) Smith, Nieces and Nephews; Alex, Nathan, Tim, Nicholas, Josh, Leah, Libby, Adelia, Lucas and Maggie. Jason was preceded in death by his fraternal Grandparents Marshall and Virginia Gooley and his paternal Grandfather Ronald Blanchard.

Jason's family would like to thank the Community of Grand Ledge, the Staff at Eaton Rapids Public Schools, the Grand Ledge Police Department, the ICUTeam at Sparrow Hospital and
their many friends, neighbors and family members that supported them through this long
and rough road. Jason was a fighter until the end and the many wonderful people that
visited him during his last days at Sparrow ICU can attest to his tough Superman attitude.
He will be deeply missed by all.

Jason's visitation will take place Saturday, December 13 at 11 am. Funeral Service to follow at 2 pm at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 201 West Saginaw Hwy, Grand Ledge MI. A light luncheon buffet will be served during visitation and prior to the service. Interment will follow immediately after the service at Wacousta Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Congregational United Church of Christ or to the Gooley Family Fundraiser to assist with medical and funeral costs. http://gfwd.at/1wJciiI
