Steven R. Kahl, age 60, a Manitowoc resident, died unexpectedly Thursday, December 31, 1998, at his residence.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 4, 1999, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rev. William Zimmer will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial with interment at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.

Steven was born on June 4, 1938, at Manitowoc, son of the late Ralph and Leona Meyer Kahl. He grew up and was educated at Manitowoc, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1956, and attending NCR Computer School at Dayton, Ohio in 1964. Steve owned and operated Kahl Cash Register & Electronics since 1965, a business he truly enjoyed. Steve valued his dedicated customers in the area. On October 28, 1961, Steve married Carol A. Schuler at Holy Innocents Catholic Church. The couple celebrated 37 years of marriage together. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a veteran of the United States Army. Steve enjoyed fishing, telling stories and fixing and rebuilding cars.

Survivors include his wife, Carol, Manitowoc; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael S. and Kari Kahl, Oregon, Wis.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Mary E. and Ron Mahoney, Omaha, Neb., Michelle A. and Tom Peroutka, Cato, Melissa R. Kahl, Madison; four grandchildren, Amy and Sarah Kahl, Tommy and Monika Peroutka; one sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Norbert Hoffman, Green Bay; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends survive.

Relatives and friends may call at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, Manitowoc, 9th Street Chapel, from 4-8 p.m. (TONIGHT) Sunday, and at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday led by Fr. Bill.

Steve will be sadly missed by his family, friends and fishing buddies.
