Amelia D. Savastano, 78, of 15 Oakcrest Drive, who served five mayors and seven tax assessors during four decades of work at Providence City Hall, died Sunday at home. She was the wife of Ralph Savastano.

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Crescenzo and Maria (Ricci) Ricci, she lived in North Providence for 10 years.

Mrs. Savastano was in charge of wills and deeds in the assessor's office for eight years before retiring in 1973. She was a 1926 graduate of the Bryant & Stratton Business College, now Bryant College. She also was a charter member and a past president of the Melody Belles of Harmony, a women's barbershop-type chorus.

Besides her husband she leaves a brother, Rocco Ricci of Pawtucket and a sister, Christine Lisi of Providence.

The funeral will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. from the Mariani Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins St., Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Anthony's Church, Mineral Spring Avenue. Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston.
