Governor of Connecticut. A graduate of Worcester Polytechnic and Harvard University, he was a Republican state representative and state Senator before serving as Lieutenant Governor from 1907 to 1909. He was elected Governor in 1920, serving one term and retiring from public service in 1923. He later retired as the president of the Hartford Lumber Company after 39 years in 1939.
