Social Security lists his birth year as 1910, headstone shows 1915. His father , on his naturalization papers showed Ercola born in Italy on Aug. 2, 1910.

He was a son of Nicola Addonizio and Rachela Panarese. He grew up in Massachusetts.

On 1940 census, Dr. Addonizio was married to Beatrice A. Addonizio. Ercole and Beatrice were the parents of Charles Anthony and Beatrice. In the 1970s he had retired to Florida. Headstone reflects he was survived by his wife, Priscilla.

Doctor Ercole Addonizio, Providence physician, died March 13, 1977, at the age of 61.

Doctor Addonizio had been a member of the staffs of Roger Williams General Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital, John F. Fogarty Memorial Hospital, the former McAlpine Memorial Hospital, and senior physician at Dr. U.F. Zambarano Memorial Hospital.

He was a graduate of Cushing Academy; Colby College, Waterville, Maine; and the Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia.

Dr. Addonizio died of lung cancer.
