Age and Overheating Fatal.
Cyrus Alexander Died at Home of His Niece.
Cutting weeds in the hot sun was fatal to Cyrus Alexander, 80 years of age, who died of paralysis induced by overheating, at the home of his niece, Mrs. Eliza Putnam at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Funeral services were held this afternoon at Kirker and Marsh's undertaking rooms, and interment was in Highland cemetery.
Mr. Alexander had lived in Wichita several years. His son, Julian Alexander, of Duquoin, Ill, survives him, as do two daughters, Mrs. Cora Shaver of Englewood, and Mrs. Julia Montgomery, of Walden. Mr. Alexander had been living with his daughter at Englewood. While cutting weeds and making repairs a few days ago on his former home in this city, which was vacant, he became overheated. Paralysis set in.
