LUCY V. GILLIS
Lucy V. Gillis, 79, a former Cayuga resident who has lived in Marion since 1977 died May 24, 1982 at the home of a daughter in Marion. She had been ill for a year.
Born January 27, 1903 in Marshall, Parke, Indiana, she was the daughter of Charles and henrietta Norcoff Durham. She had been a cook at the Green Single Restaurant in Cayuga. She was a past matron of Order of Eastern Star Chapter 150 of Cayuga and was a member of the Cayuga United Presbyterian Church.
She was married to Frank Monroe Gillis, who died in 1949.
Survivors include a daughter, Hydie Millikin of Marion, a grandchild and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held Thursday at the DeVerter Brothers Funeral Home in Cayuga with Jack Holycross officiating. Burial was in Eugene Cemetery.
Member of Cayuga Garden Club. One incident from the Hoosier State Paper told of a meeting at the home of Mrs. Ira Donald where Lucy gave a paper on roses.
