John (Jack) Morris Malmin Passes Away

John Malmin, 70, Houston, Tx, formerly of Edmore, ND, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 1998 at a Houston Hospital. A memorial service was held Saturday, May 16, 1998 at Pat H. Foley Mortuary with Rev. Sara Owen-Gemoets officiating.
John was born on the family farm in Highland Center Township, Northeast of Edmore, to John P Malmin and Minnie (Kittleson) Malmin on April 2, 1928.
He attended school through the grades in Highland Center School and graduated from Edmore High School in 1946. He attended NDSU, Fargo, ND but left school to begin farming with his brother, Gunder.
In 1951, they discontinued farming and the two brothers went to Los Angeles where John attended college and entered the business field. He worked with Pacific Finance Company as an Auditor, checking the companies who were having financial problems.
He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn (Harry) Montague, Medford, OR and Mrs. Josephine (Theodore) Sigvaldson, Edmore, ND and by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, two brothers, Palmer and Gunder, and three sisters, Mrs. Alma (Pete)Klier, Bisbee, ND: Cora Malmin, Edmore, ND and Mrs. A. Bertha (E.F.) Moore, Jr., Houston, TX, and a niece, Elizabeth Pena, Houston, TX.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Concordia Lutheran Church, Edmore, ND, with Pastor Erik Johnson officiating. Interment will be in the St. HansCemetery, Rural Edmore.
Aaker Funeral Home will be in charge.

Uncle John attended ND Agricultural College-Fargo - farmed with his brother until 1951 then moved to Los Angeles to attend school and worked as an auditor for Pacific Finance Co. Moved to Houston, Tx - worked for his brother-in-law and then formed Datamation Industries. Moved to Mexico to sell computers and teach computer classes. Returned to Houston where he owned MiniMisers Tax Service.

John was my mother's beloved younger brother and he was dearly loved by all of his nieces and nephews and his great nieces and nephews.
