GEORGE ZACHARIAH PICKREL was born 11 Oct 1872 in Seward County, Nebraska to parents Christian Pickrel and Lucretia M. Pickrel.

His mother died in 1876 when he was 4 years-old. In the 1880 federal census he was living in Seward County, Nebraska with an aunt and uncle (Elijah and Elizabeth Secor).

He 1st married RETTIE SCOTT (1871-1910), born in Iowa. Their identifiable children were: Grace Pickrel born 1892, LeRoy Pickrel born 1896, George Pickrel born 1898 and died 1899, Loretta "Rettie" Pickrel born 1901, Opal Pickrel born 1904, Howard Pickrel born 1906, and Scott Pickrel born 1908. Rettie died in 1910.

He 2nd married MARGARET PICKREL (born in Norway) about 1915. It appears they had a "blended" family (*looking at the 1920 census) with children from both of their previous marriages. It's unclear what happened to Margaret or this marriage.

He 3rd married EMMA BETHA PICKREL (1885-1975) about 1923. They share a plot at Crown Hill Cemetery, Jefferson County, CO.

His occupational history indicates he was a farmer and later a brickmason.
