J. C. graduated from Paris High School, where his basketball team earned honors of Arkansas State Champions. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy during World War II. On May 6, 1949, in Kansas City, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Shirley “Billie” Glidewell, who preceded him in death on April 18, 2014.

In 1946, he became a control buyer at Montgomery Wards in Kansas City; and in 1967, he transferred to the home office in Chicago. When he wasn’t working at the office, he enjoyed helping his son by driving a tow truck. In 1985, he retired from Montgomery Wards after 39 years of service. He and Billie then moved to Cole Camp. J. C. enjoyed dancing and loved to garden and had a green thumb, because he was able to grow figs in this part of the country, as well as Chicago.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Perk and Inez Williams, and two sisters, Selma Babcock and Harlow Snyder.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2014, at Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor, with military rites by the American Legion Post No. 305 of Cole Camp. Arrangements are under the direction of the Fox Funeral Home, Cole Camp.
