BANKSTON - Rev. Samuel D., 2316 16th Avenue, South, passed away Thursday at his home. He was born in LaGrange, GA., and came here 15 years ago from West Palm Beach, FL. Rev. Bankston had served as a minster in the Methodist Church for 46 years having retired in 1962 . He was a member of the Central Jurisdiction of the Florida Methodist Conference. He had served as super intendent of the central district, as pastor of McCabe Methodist Church, Clearwater and other churched throughout Florida and Georgia. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Bertha Bankston, St.. Petersburg; sister, Mrs. Mary Jones, Elyria, Ohio; brother, Mr. William Bankston, Springfield, Ohio; and other relatives. Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 24, 1966, 2 p.m. at McCabe Methodist Church with Rec. C. B. Johnson officiating. Funeral party will leave 10:30 a.m. enroute to Barnesville, GA where the interment will be made in Greenwood Cemetery with Hamm Funeral Home, Barnesville, in charge. Friends may call at Creal Funeral Home Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. and at the church after 10 a.m. Monday until funeral time. The Body will not be viewed following services. Family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the memorial fund of Happy Workers Kindergarten and nursery. Creal Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
