IRONS - On December 19, at the Home for Aged Colored Women, DINAH IRONS, aged 75(?) years, formerly a servant in the family of the late John Armstrong. She faithfully performed the sacred trust committed to her charge, and now reaps her reward.
* There is obviously a discrepancy between her name in the obituary vs. her name as it appears on the death certificate. I took an interest in her because I believed we shared the same last name but that does not appear to be the case. The death certificate indicates she had been a resident of Baltimore city for only 15 years. However I was able to find her in the city in the 1850, 1860 & 1870 censuses. Each time she was identified as Dinah or Dianna Irons, born about 1800.
