Mrs. Lydia T. Patten, aged 76, widow of the late Joseph W. Patten, former city merchant and city councilman, died last night at 9:30 o'clock at her home, 199 South Franklin street, of pneumonia. She had been ill only two days. Mrs. Patten was born in Wyoming in 1850, the daughter of Daniel and Lydia Young Van Scoy. In 1880 she married Joseph W. Patten and came to Wilkes-Barre, where she had resided since. Mrs. Patten was well known among the older families of Wyoming Valley. Her husband died in 1892. Mrs. Patten was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. One daughter, Lydia, at home, survives.
