DELPHIA A. FANNING DIED

At the residence of her son, Middleton Fannon, in Lincoln county, Tennessee, October 20, 1860. Mrs. Delphia A. Fannon, aged about 100 years. She was born and raised in the state of Virginia, and moved from there with her husband, Middleton Fannon, to the state of Georgia, where they lived a few years, and then moved to this state some fifty years ago and was consequently one of the first settlers in the country. She often spoke of the many privations and hardships undergone by them in the early settlement of this county, and there was nothing of which she spoke with more interest than old times. As a neighbor she was kind and obliging, as a friend she was firm and unwaverig, as a Christian she was pious and consistent, as mother, grandmother, she was devoted and affectionate. In all the relations of life it may be said that she discharged faithfully her various duties, and lived the life of a true woman.
She has left to mourn her loss a train of relatives to the fourth generation. She obtained a hope in Christ in early life and had been a member of the Baptist church for upwards of 45 years. For some time prior to her death her mind had so failed her that she was living, but the day before she died shen she appeard to be sinking, her mind was so restored that she was concious to her condition, and when asked by her son with whom she was living if she thought she was going to die, she clapped her hands and replied, Oh yes, and requested them all to meet her in heaven. She soon became speechless but gave evidence that she was in her right mind. After continuing in this state a few hours, her spirit returned unto God who gave it.

Facts: Delphia Ann Moore does not have a documented place of birth. She could have been born in NC. Her Moore family has not yet been documented. She and Middleton MOVED from Caswell Co. NC to GA. They did NOT live in VA.
