Son of Rev David Davis. Husband of Charlotte J Cannell. Father of Carlotta, Daisy, Ida, Centie Maud and Morrison.
Enlisted in Cleveland July 1861 as a corporal, mustered out gat Macon GA. Co A 7th Ohio Infantry and Co S 187th Infantry. Shot in the shoulder at Manhatchie TN Oct 1863. Captured at Dallas GA in 1864, held as POW at Charleston SC. A petition for his release was successful. Released he returned to Newburgh and married Charlotte.
Worked in rolling mill before the war he returned to that occupation as head roller at the Alliance Rolling Mill in Alliance Ohio.
