Donald Joseph Albosta, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away peacefully Thursday, December 18, 2014 at the age of 89 years. He was born in Saginaw, Michigan on December 5, 1925 to the late Paul and Laura (Bennet) Albosta. He attended Saginaw and Chesaning Public Schools and graduated from Chesaning Agricultural School. He married the former Dorothy Ankoviak on February 10, 1951 and she survives him.

Don was a farmer his entire life. He served his country in the United States Navy, and served his community as Albee County Trustee, Saginaw County Commissioner, Michigan State House of Representatives 86th district, US Congressman 10th district, Township Trustee, School Board Secretary, Agricultural Policy Advisory Committee for Trade. He was also the director of the Sugar Beet Growers Association, Associate Director of Saginaw County Soil Conservation District, on the State Advisory Board of the FHA, member of the Farmer’s Union and NFO, president of Prairie Farms Cooperative for 20 years, a member of St. Charles VFW post 5695 and the 1960 Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year. He was also the proud owner and developer of Misteguay Creek Farms.

Along with his wife of 63 years Dorothy, Don is survived by his daughter, Christine of Bancroft; son, Paul (Renee) Albosta, granddaughters, a sister, Ruth and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held on Monday, December 22 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Albee. Fr. Christopher Coman will preside with burial following at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Albee. Visitation will take place at CM Humpula Funeral Home, 209 Entrepreneur Dr., St. Charles on Sunday from 1 – 8 p.m. and again on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials can be made to St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
