As a neighbor he was kind and accommodated and thoughtful. In his family he was ever mindful of their comfort and pleasure. A man who looked after his own business strictly, he was always busy and interested in the carrying out of well laid plans. A devoted member of the M.E. Church he attended the services until failing health prevented.
Mr. Phillips was twice married; his first wife was Miss Fannie Emery and to this union six children were born, all living except the eldest daughter, Mrs. Reuben Whitehead who passed away several years ago. His last wife was Mrs. Duskie Greer, who passed away just four years ago. His children are-E.D. Phillips, Macon; Mrs. George Webb, Cordele; Mrs. Rob Hadley and Olin Phillips, Chipley; Mrs. R.B. Fort, Hamilton.
