Mrs. Jacob Waggoner, nee Pheroby Jane Joines, the daughter of William and Candice Joines, was born January 12, 1862 at Sparta, North Carolina. She passed away at ther home in Sutherland, Iowa, on July 15, 1952, having reached the age of 90 years, 6 months, and 12 days.

Her early girlhood was spent near her birth place, where she attended the public schools which were scarce in those days of long ago.

On February 10, 1889, she was united in marriage to Jacob Waggoner by the same magistrate who had performed the marriage ceremony of her parents forty years previously, Magistrate Tom Douglas.

They moved to the vicinity of Sutherland, Iowa, and lived here all of their married life. Seven children were born to this union. She was preceded in death by her husband, who passed away in April of 1944 at the age of 95, an infant son, Glen, and her son, George, who passed away at the age of 47.

She was a member of the Church of Christ and of its Ladies' Aid.

She is survived by her five children: Charles of Sioux Rapids; Blanche (Mrs. Alfred Wittrock) of Sutherland; Jake of Long Beach, California; and Mare (Mrs. Everett Warren of Winnebago, Minnesota; seventeen grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and other relatives.
