Stephanie Jan Smith, 46, of Columbus, GA, passed away February 17, 2014 at Columbus Hospice House. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, February 19, 2014 beginning at 2:00 P.M. EST, at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Rd. Columbus, GA, 31907. Brother Ed Brawner will be officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. EST at the funeral home. Stephanie Jan Smith was born January 1, 1968. She is preceded in death by her mother Beverly Jan Smith and maternal grandparents, Julian and Dorothy Mae Smith. Survivors include Stephanie's father, Virgil Horst; sister, Cynthia Jane Smith, of Jacksonville, FL; brother, Ernest Stephenson smith, of Columbus, GA; Aunts, Rose Mary Brown (Milton) of Columbus, GA, Julie Marie Powell (Joseph Benjamin, Jr.) of Columbus, GA, Faith Ann Whitt, of Knoxville, TN, Cynthia Rachelle Tone (Jerry) of Mt. Verna, OH, Brenda Kay Morland, (Lee) of Grove city, OH. Stephanie is also survived by several nieces and nephews, cousins and caring friends. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of Columbus Hospice House for all of the care shown to Stephanie.
