Daniel F. Kanera Sr., 72, of 1602 Columbus St., Manitowoc, died Tuesday evening, Jan. 11, at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Friday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. James J. Stamborski will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial and entombment will be in Knollwood Mausoleum, Town of Kossuth.
Mr. Kanera was born Sept. 30, 1910, in Kewaunee County, son of the late Joseph and Mary Spina Kanera. He moved to Manitowoc in 1924, residing here since. He married Erna Vogt Oct. 16, 1940, at St. Andrew Parish. Prior to his retirement, in 1972, he had been employed as a baker with Dick Brothers Bakery and Sindlar bakery for 25 years. He also was employed with City of Manitowoc Street Department. Mr. Kanera was a member of St. Andrew Parish.Survivors include his wife, Erna; a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel Jr. and Betty Kanera of Two Rivers; a daughter, Sister Darlene of Milwaukee; two brothers, Wenzel of Manitowoc and Joseph of Route 1, Kewaunee; three sisters, Mrs. Lucille Schramel and Mrs. Helen Uecker of Milwaukee and Mrs. Mayme Lambert of Route 1, Kewaunee, and three grandchildren, Daniel, David and Kelle of Two Rivers. A brother, Louis, and a sister, Ann preceded him in death.Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Home 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday.
