He graduated from Ogden High School; Weber College, where he served as Freshman Class President; and from Brigham Young University, B.S. and Purdue University, M.A., in Political Science. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserve and U.S. Army. He worked for over 30 years in the Ogden City School District. He was a history teacher at Mount Ogden Junior High and Ogden High, a Vice Principal of Washington Jr. High and Ogden High, and Principal of Hillcrest Elementary, Lincoln Elementary, and Central Middle School.
Bob married Beverly J Smith on September 20, 1957 in the Logan LDS Temple and they raised their five children in South Ogden, Utah.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a missionary in the British Isles, as bishop of the Ogden 65th Ward and as a worker in the Ogden Utah Temple. He was also a member of the Sons of the Utah Pioneers and served as President of the Ogden Pioneer Chapter.
Surviving are his children, Jan (Brad) Favero, Ogden, UT; Joseph (Laura) Francis, Perry, UT; Jed (Anne) Francis; Logan, UT; Stephen Francis, South Weber, UT; and Jenifer Francis, Salt Lake City, UT; grandchildren, Marnie, Zan, and Drew Favero; Spencer and Jessica Francis; and Hope, Seth, Samantha, Elise, and Erica Francis; sister-in-law, Sonja (Weldon) Egbert; brother-in-law, Stephen (Bonnie) Smith; and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brother, Joseph Francis; sister, Verlene Curtis and brother-in-law, Richard Curtis. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 11 a.m., in the South Ogden Sixth Ward, 4380 Orchard Ave., South Ogden, Utah.
