Gladys Mary Myers of Blachly, OR passed away at her eldest daughter, Maxine's home Dec. 20th, 2014. She was 100 years and 3 months old, having been born Sept 15th, 1914 at Elk City, OR to Hermann and Myrtle Schmitt. She was the middle child; her brothers Ralph and Don Schmitt precede her in death. The family moved to the Lake Creek Valley when Gladys was nine years old, where she attended Triangle Lake School and graduated from high school in 1932. She married her school sweetheart, Stuart Myers, September 30th, 1933 and lived on the Myers century farm for 80 years where she and Stuart worked their grade dairy, shipping milk to Darigold for over 30 years. Stuart passed away in 1991. In addition to her daily dairying chores, Gladys was a homemaker who enjoyed trips to the coast, gardening, flowers, cooking, square dancing, musicals, sewing, designing and hooking rugs (she made over 100). She taught her two daughters and six neighborhood girls a total of 16 years in 4-H sewing. She was a member of the Memorial Community Church and weekly made the floral arrangements on Sundays and huge cedar swags at Christmas for years. Gladys' course of life was steady as "work" and "family" were most important.

She is survived by her daughter Maxine Renken and husband, Don of Blachly, Arnold Myers and wife, Julanne, of Blachly, and Sue Baucum and husband, Eldridge, of Eugene, nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
