Veronica Kovalik, 88, formerly of 1212 E. Broadway St., died at 1:58 p.m. Tuesday at Heritage Manor in Streator.
She was born September 24, 1899 in Streator, a daughter of George and Barbara Plichta. She married John Kovalik on October 16, 1916 at St. Stephen's Church. He died in 1966.
Surviving are one daughter: Marcella (George M.) Masley of Streator; two sons: David Kovalik of Streator and John Kovalik Jr. of Chicago; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; one brother: Michael Plichta of Streator; and two sisters: Mary (Raymond) Kelba of Winnetka and Helen Gurbal of Chicago.
She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
A housewife, she was a member of St. Stephen's Church and St. Mary's Lodge.
