Ellen Marie Hodges Burgess, 81, of West Jefferson died Sunday, July 18, 2004, at Alabaster Health Care Center.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home chapel with burial in Bryan Cemetery. The Rev. Bill Ellis will officiate. New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home is directing.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m., today, July 20, 2004, at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Doyle P. Burgess; her granddaughter, Meagan Cantrell; parents, Wiley and Vira Hodges; and four sisters, Nellie Hodges, Geneva Swanzy, Lilly Mae Grimes and Esther Christian.
She is survived by her three sons, Barney Burgess and his wife, Regina of Dora, Ronald Burgess and his wife, Dorothy of Graysville, and Marc Burgess and his wife, Kim of Empire; two daughters, Ellen Dreher and her husband, Novie of Jasper, and Rosemary Cantrell and her husband, Reggie of Argo; 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; one sister, Hazel Rainey of Cullman; and a special niece, Jean Crownover of Ladson, S.C.
