September 20, 2004 Roy Hogan, 88, passed away on September 19, 2004, in Wichita Falls, Texas. Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, September 21, 2004, at Park Place Christian Church with Rev. Alice Hupp officiating. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home. Mr. Hogan was born March 21, 1916, to William Roy, Sr. and Ermin Harrison Hogan in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He graduated from Bowling Green High School and from Washington and Lee University in 1939. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. Mr. Hogan married Gretta Connally on June 21, 1937, in Dallas, Texas. Mr. Hogan was a petroleum geologist for Shell Oil Company for six years including time-off for 3 years service in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Mr. Hogan piloted B-24's on 35 combat missions over Germany, Austria, Czechoslovakia and Northern Italy. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with Two Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Air Medal with Three Oak Leaf Clusters. Roy returned to civilian life and resumed his work as an Independent Petroleum Geologist and oil producer. Mr. Hogan worked for Halliburton in Duncan, Oklahoma before moving to Wichita Falls. In 1948 Mr. Hogan worked for Harvey Neeld and Frank Hood (Neeld & Hood). Roy was a member of numerous petroleum organizations including the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. Roy and his wife, Gretta, were founding members of Park Place Christian Church and have been singing in the choir for over 50 years. Roy was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe R. Hogan and Harrison Hogan, and a grandson, Mark Robb. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Gretta, of the home; a daughter, Gretta Robb and husband Larry of Wichita Falls; a grandson, Eric Robb and wife Jane of Wichita Falls; and three great grandchildren, Harrison, Mixon and Leigh Robb, all of Wichita Falls. The family will be at the funeral home Monday from 5 to 6 p.m. for visitation. Memorials may be made to the Family Life Center, c/o Park Place Christian Church, the Rolling Meadows Foundation or to the Oil and Gas Information Library.
