Mr. Earl Melvin Sears, 76, passed away quietly at his daughter's home on Monday, December 22, 2014 with his family by his side. Mr. Sears was born on February 22, 1938 in Hix, WV to the late Stanford Cales and Margaret Sears. He was retired from the United States Navy after serving 20 years, and worked as a welder and truck driver. His loving wife of 45 years, Dorothy Sears, preceded him in death. Survivors are his daughters, Teresa DiGeorgio (Joe), and Sherrie Brett (Eddie), grandchildren, Troy (Lindsay), Travis, Trevor, Paul, and Natalie, and great-grandchildren, Rylie, Micah, and Audrey. Funeral Services for Mr. Sears will be held on Friday, December 26, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Helm-Gallagher Funeral Home with Pastor Russell Franklin officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. until the start of the service. Burial will follow at the Hickory Grove Cemetery.
