Jack S. Hines, age 74, of Portage, Indiana, formerly of Merrillville, IN., passed away at St. Mary Medical Center, Hobart, on Thursday, February 13, 2003. Jack was a former employee of Universal Atlas Cement Co., He is a member of the Merrillville, Christian Church and was a Korean Conflict Army Veteran, Preceded in death by sisters, Jessie Toby Gard and Dixie Stewart. Survived by loving wife of 47 years, Eilean. Devoted father of seven children; Jack (Donna) Hines of Oregon, IL., Dee Hines of Charlestown, IN., Cheryl Dekema and Paul (Kathy) Hines, both of Merrillville, IN. Charla Hines of Crown Point, IN. Mark (Annette) Hines of Merrillville, IN., and Daniel (Karen) Hines of Charlestown, IN.; 11 grandchildren; Julie, Paul (Nicole), Tony, Tonya, Amanda, Michael, James, Spencer, Nathan, Merrissa and Samatha; two great-grandchildren; Michael and Kyley Rose; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services Monday, Feb. 17, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. Directly at Merrillville Christian Church 7071 Broadway, Merrillville, IN. Pastor Duane G. Johnson officiating. Burial, McCool Cemetery, Portage, IN. Friends may call at the Geisen Funeral Home, Merrillville, on Sunday from 205 and 6-8 p.m. On Monday morning relatives and friends may call at the church from 9 until time of service at 10:00a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be give to the family.
