Joyce Maxine (Johnson) Whittington

Joyce Maxine (Johnson) Whittington passed away on Dec. 22, 2014 in Houston. She was born on March 8, 1926 in Sweetwater to long time residents Joe Mack Johnson and Laura Hill Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto W. Whittington; her parents, Joe and Laura Johnson; and her sister, Gladys Johnson Smith.

Maxine is survived by her son, Johnny Mack Whittington and wife Johnnye Holbert Whittington; sister, Lola Johnson Watson; granddaughter, Melissa Whittington Campbell and husband David Campbell; grandson, Sean Whittington and wife Nacole Whittington; and great-grandchildren, Colette Campbell, Jack Campbell and Alexis Whittington.

She was a member of the Methodist Church. Maxine liked to paint, design clothes and entertain. She loved and was loved by family and friends.

Graveside service will be held in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, 6412 IH 20, Sweetwater, Texas at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014, with Rev. Brian Brownlow, pastor of First United Methodist Church officiating.
