Bernadine "Bernie" Walch 90 of St. Charles died Wednesday December 24, at Winona Health MAnor in Winona.
She was born March 26, 1924 in Arcadia to Bernard and Helena (Rohn) Boberg and attended St. Aloysius Catholic School. In 1945 Bernie started working in Winona where she lived with her aunt and uncle. She met Michael Walch and they were married September 1, 1952 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Winona. She and Mike farmed on Oak ridge until moving to Altura in 1971. Mike preceded her in death on March 16, 2002. She lived in Altura until moving to St. Charles Assisted Living in 2013.
Survivors include 2 daughters, 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 2 brothers and one sister-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter Mary Ann, a son-in-law Clayton, brothers Norman and Ralph and a sister Marjorie.
Bernie was strong in her Catholic faith as a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Altura. She enjoyed spending time and playing cards and games with her family, friends and neighbors.
A funeral Mass will be 10AM Monday at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Altura with the Rev. Glenn Frerichs officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery at Oak Ridge. Friends may call from 3 to 6PM Sunday at Hoff Funeral Service in St. Charles. They may also call one hour before services at the church on Monday.
