Louis Phillip Allery was born 4 August 1883 in St. Joe, Pembina County, Dakota Territory to Abraham and Marie (Lenoir) Allery.

Phillip and Elizabeth "Betsey" Patnaude were married on May 4, 1905 in Belcourt, ND. They lived on the Allery farm in the Belcourt area all of their married life.

The Allery Family (direct descendents of Phillip Allery) have lived near Fish Lake for six generations. They were one of the first families to settle homestead land on the Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation. They received 160 acres from the government and still own the original 160 avres.

Phillip Allery spent most of his life working on the land. The job was hard and never ending. There were no roads or equipment to work the land. All the work was done by hand. A team of horses was the only means of transportation for his family. Later on Phillip traded a cow and a horse for a threshing machine. The neightbors came from miles around to thresh grain. The machine took seven teams of horses to operate. One man would have to sit on top of the round machine to make sure all the teams were in line so that they would pull even and thresh the crops for the families.

In 1937, Phillip received a new government house. In 1938 a gravel road was started, and shortly after that they got a car. Most of the Allery children were forced to find jobs at a very early age to provide support for the family. Fish Lake at that time was a good clean lake, the surrounding lakes today were once hay land. The children had to walk to schooL and church.

Phillip passed away on Sepember 29, 1968 in Rolette County, ND at 85 years of age.
