Services for Douglas Eggerling, age 53, of Brunswick, will be held Tuesday, Dec. 9 at 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Plainview.
Burial will be in the Brunswick Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8 at Ashburns Funeral Home in Plainview with military honors conducted by the Plainview American Legion and V.F.W.
He died Dec. 2, at the Golden Living Center in Neligh.
Douglas Eggerling was born at Norfolk on Nov. 2, 1961, to James and Marcie Eggerling.
Doug lived on the family farm, outside of Pilger, until he graduated from Wisner-Pilger High in 1980.
He joined the Army on March 25, 1981 and served for eight years. He was discharged March 3, 1989.
On June 29, 1991, Doug married his wife Louise. They lived in Norfolk.
He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in 1992.
Doug worked on family farm from 1989 until 1993. He moved to Plainview and worked for J.E. Meuret Grain until 1997.
In 1994, he began his own trucking business and in 1997, became an owner/operator.
Doug and his wife purchased a farm near Brunswick in 1999 where they lived with their four children. Doug raised sheep and worked in his trucking business.
In May of 2012, he was diagnosed with cancer. The farm was sold on March 1, 2014, and the family moved into Brunswick.
Doug was proceeded in death by his grandparents.
Survivors include his wife, Louise; four children, Sarah, Latasha, Devon and Celine; parents, Jim and Marcie; two sisters, Diane and Sandy and two brothers, Gerald and Tim.
