JAMES A. MATTHEWS DEAD
James A. Matthews, retired farmer, died at 8 a.m. today (Thursday) at Oswego Hospital where he had been a patient for five days.
Survivors include the widow, of the home in Chetopa, two sons Clinton of Treece and Jack of Edna; one brother Joe Matthews of Tippon, Mo.; a sister, Mrs. Bell Hawkins of Tulsa, Okla. and seven grandchildren.
He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The Miller Funeral Home is in charge.

CHETOPA – Services for James A. Matthews, retired farmer, will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Miller Chapel. The Rev. V. F. Cloninger will officiate and burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Matthews, who would have celebrated his 91st birthday next month, was born at Dallas, Tex., on Nov. 19, 1862.
