Manuel A. Simons, prominent Orland dairyman, was fatally stricken by a heart attack on Wednesday. He was rushed by Westside ambulance to Glenn General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Mr. Simons, 52, was able to come home only recently after spending several weeks in the hospital as the result of a heart attack.
Born July 21, 1914, in Arcata, he was an Orland resident for 18 years.
Survivors are his wife, Dorathea; three daughters, Antoinette Pacheco, Vallejo, Jeanette Simons and Barbara Simons, both of Orland; his mother, Rosa Simons of Arcata; five brothers, Joe and Albert of Orland, Henry and Raymond of Arcata, and Ralph of Santa Maria; two sisters, Alice Espinola, Santa Clara, and Evelyn Fields, Arcata, and two grandchildren. Another brother, Frank of Orland, preceded him in death in 1956.
There will be a rosary at 8:30 P.M. Friday at the F.D. Sweet and Son chapel. Requiem mass will be at 11 A.M. Saturday in St. Dominic's Catholic Church with Rev. Thomas Boland officiating. Burial will be in the Catholic cemetery.
