Published in the Piscataquis (ME) Observer 17 May 1877 p2: "Maj. Charles A. Miller, of Skowhegan, whose death was announced Thursday, was well known throughout the State. He was Assistant Clerk in the Maine House of Representatives in 1858-9, and was afterward Clerk, in which capacity he was never excelled. He was Major of the 2d Maine Cavalry. At the close of the war he settled in Alabama, and was Secretary of State for two years. He was about 45 years of age."
