Lester Peterson, age 57, a resident of Bloomer, Wis., died on Thursday, April 20, 2006, at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire.

Lester LeRoy Peterson was born on May 3, 1948, in Evergreen Township, Washburn County, Wis., to parents LeRoy and Mabel (Hart) Peterson. He attended and graduated from the Spooner Schools and later received vocational training as a welder. He also served in the United States Army from May 12, 1968, until May 12, 1970, serving overseas in Vietnam. After his service to his country, he returned and lived in Illinois with his brother Marvin for a short time before moving to the Chippewa Falls area, where he worked at Phoenix Steel for a number of years and then for Cascade Tissue Company for almost 20 years in Eau Claire. Lester enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, being with his friends, camping, fishing, hunting and being a collector of many things.

Lester is survived by his daughters, Ruth Ann Peterson of La Crosse, Wis., and Jorjanna Jean (Jimi) Hacken of Clayton, Wis.; four grandchildren, Brittany, Courtany, Ian and Iyllie; son, Jason Lee Peterson of Menomonie, Wis.; brother, Marvin (Kathy) Peterson of Clear Lake, Wis.; sister, Loretta (Lonnie) LaRue of Trego, Wis.; nephew, Danny Peterson of Illinois; niece, Stacy Peterson of South Carolina and many cousins.

Lester is preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Funeral services for Lester Peterson will be on Monday, April 24, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Dahl Funeral Home in Spooner, Wis., with Pastor Marty Nolet officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, April 23, 2006, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Dahl Funeral Home and also from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday. Interment will be at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner. Casket bearers will be Wayne Beaudette, Brett Cheney, Bill Cook, Mike Cook, Jimi Hacken and Dick Pfundheller.
