Mary Ann Loretta Zins was born on May 5, 1945 in She graduated from Nicollet High School and attended Mankato State University in Mankato. Mary Ann had worked at Pinks clothing store in New Ulm and 3M in New Ulm retiring in 2002.

Mary Ann was actively involved in many organizations including the Nicollet County Historical Society, the Wanda Gag House, Harkins Store, Junior Pioneer Park, New Ulm Popcorn Wagon, and many others over the years. She was a member of the Luxembourg Society .

Some of the projects she completed for the Nicollet County Historical Society were documenting the names on markers in all the rural cemeteries in Nicollet County, which have been converted into memorial pages on findagrave. She also clipped out all obituaries and marriages from the early years of Nicollet Leader, which are now on an electronic data base. Her latest project was making a book of obituaries for all those interred at the Swan Lake Catholic Church.

Her hobbies of Genealogy became a passion tracking the family history back into the 1500's. Mary Ann was thrilled to find the actual interment sites of her Zins ancestors in the Swan Lake Cemetery after pouring over the original cemetery maps.

Mary Ann loved decorating for the holidays especially Halloween and Christmas. For the Christmas holidays she set up 'Her grown up doll house' the Christmas Village. However the crown jewel was her Christmas tree with her German made, hand blown, glass ornaments. Mary Ann enjoyed cooking, trying new recipes, canning, hand quilting, and needle working.

Mary Ann is survived by a sister, Dianne (Dave)Mosford of Foley; brothers, Henry (Ruth) Zins of Brookings, South Dakota and Bill (Glenys) Zins of Nicollet, a brother-in-law, Marty (Carol) Dentinger of Victoria, and by eight nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Kathryn.
