In loving memory of my father Arthur E. Petzold, O.D.

Dr. Arthur Petzold died on June 6th, 2014 in his 96th year. He was born in St. Paul, MN and graduated from Northern Illinois College of Optometry.

After practicing his profession for a year he enlisted in the Army Air Force becoming a pilot on a B-24 bomber during World War II. His crew was a lead crew during the invasion of Europe. He flew 30 combat missions over Germany and received the Distinguished Flying Cross and several air medals.

He married the love of his life, Dottie, during his cadet training. They were married 70 years. He practiced optometry in Eau Claire for over 40 years and took care of generations of families.

He served as president of the Eau Claire Lions Club. He served as a board director of the Wisconsin Optometric Association.

After the war, he stayed in the Air Force Reserve for 23 years while he still practiced his profession. He retired from the Reserves as a Lt. Colonel. He was a Boy Scout Leader for the Air Scouts. He remained an avid golfer all his life and played many courses in foreign countries. He was a member of the Eau Claire Country Club.

His wood working shop was his passion during his retirement years. He was blessed with a very artistic and creative mind, which was evident in his wood working pieces.

He is survived by his wife Dottie, and a daughter Louise and son-in-law Steven Berg. A very special grandson Paul and his wife Robyn and many nieces and nephews. His great grandson Cooper Nelson Berg was his pride and Joy.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Arthur's name to the Trinity Lutheran Church Food Pantry.

A private family service will take place at a later date.

The family would like to thank Dr. Weiss and the caregivers and staff at the Oak Gardens for their wonderful care.
