Don was born to Paul Leon Wright and Mae Wright (Staples) on May 14, 1930, in Flint, Michigan. After his father's death, he was raised in Kern County by his mother and stepfather George Staples. He attended the Taft school system, graduating from high school in 1949. While working summers on his grandfather's farm in Missouri, he met the love of his life, Dene (Martin). Don and Dene were married in June, 1953, and had celebrated nearly 45 blissful years of marriage in Taft where they raised their three children. Don was also a member of the Taft Elks Lodge #1527. Don was well respected for his experience and vast knowledge of the oil industry. His career in the oil industry began in 1952 and spanned over 45 years. His employment included service with Wilco Vacuum Services. Corrosion Controls, and Pride Petroleum prior to his retirement in 1992. Don is survived by his wife Dene; children Steve Wright, Debbie Machado, and Teri Bolerjack; grandchildren; his mother Mae Staples; sister Virginia Napoleon; his brother David Staples; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; special family friends, Richard and Nancy Barker and Sue Rodman, as well as many others.
