It is hard indeed to realize that Corneille Parsons Payne, the beloved wife of Beverly T. Payne, is dead. Cut down in the vigor of young womanhood, with love and happiness surrounding her, the untimely passing of this lovable girl-women is peculiarly sad.

Every effort was made to save her life, but to no avail; she gently passed away Thursday night, Jan. 22nd.

The interment was at Old Eastside Cemetery, near the plot in which her mother is buried. The flowers covering her grave so profusely were emblematic of the sweet life of this girl.

Mrs. Payne, prior to her marriage, was Corneille Frances Parsons, daughter of Walter L and Manie Leak Parsons. She was born June 21st, 1891 in Wadesboro. On Oct 11th, she was happily married to Beverley T. Payne.

Surviving her are her husband and two daughters, Maine Leak and Beverly, and a 9 day old son, Walter L. Parsons; her father, Walter L Parsons; three sisters, Mrs. A.M. Palmer, Misses Rosa and Jennie Parsons; and three brothers, Tom, Hill and Watt.

Beautiful in person, gentle of heart, industrious of body, she was the heart-blood of her home and the gentle wholesome influence of her life was and will be reflected by those who knew her well.
