PARKS, Maxwell Robert - 84, Halifax, died December 6, 2003, in Melville Lodge. Born in Riverport, he was the eldest son of Atwood and Ethel (Conrad) Parks. He grew up in East LaHave, surrounded by a large supportive extended family. The son of a sea captain, Max chose not to go to sea. Instead, he moved to Halifax and attended Maritime Business College. He worked with Revenue Canada for 35 years, retiring in 1977. He was a faithful member of Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, where he served on the church council and was assistant treasurer for many years. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends in Lunenburg County and attending community and church suppers. Max was known for his kind, gentle manner and his quick smile. He is survived by daughters, Linda MacLachlan (Allan), Shelburne; Joan Hubley (Frank), Halifax and Middle LaHave; grandchildren, Janna and Mark MacLachlan; sister, Margaret Corkum, Waltham, Mass.; brother, Robert, East LaHave. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Lois; brothers, Colin, Lowell, and Keith; stepmother, Margaret. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St., Halifax. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 10, in Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Windsor and Allan Streets, Halifax, Rev. James Anderson officiating. Interment will take place in Dayspring Cemetery at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to Lutheran Church of the Resurrection or Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
