Marilyn Thompson 86, of Girard died at 4:43 a.m. Wednesday December 31, 2014, at the Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, MO following a short illness.
Marilyn was born October 3, 1928 in Crawford County, KS the daughter of Merret and Anabell (Gooding) Colegrove.
In October of 1953 Marilyn married Richard Charles Thompson in Girard, KS; he preceded her in death in August of 2008.
Marilyn worked as a Key Punch Operator in Overland Park, KS for 10 years. She was a member of the Farlington Methodist Church; loved crafts, quilting, shell art, square dancing, reading mystery novels and traveling abroad.
Survivors include her children Dennis Thompson and wife Nicky of Lebanon, OH, Stuart Thompson and wife Linda of Greeley, CO and Steven Thompson of Girard, KS; siblings Margaret LaForte of Ft. Scott, KS and Merlin Colegrove of Walnut, KS; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her and siblings Marvin Colegrove and Francis Colegrove. Memorial Services will be 1:00pm Saturday January 3, 2015 at the Girard Methodist Church in Girard, KS with Pastor Dallas Peterson officiating.
Burial will be at a private date at the Highland Park Cemetery Pittsburg, KS. In lieu of flowers the family asks expressions of sympathy to be in the form of memorials to the Farlington Methodist Church in Farlington, KS.
