Mrs. Martha Sue “Katie” Thurmond, 77 of Madison, died December 24, 2014. She was born in Apalachee on October 26, 1937 to Cap and Alma Landrum Hunnicutt. She was married to Mr. Ronald Thurmond in 1965. Mrs. Thurmond was a loving wife and a devoted mother to her two children. She adored her grandchildren and spending time with her extended family. Mrs. Thurmond was a member of Apalachee Baptist Church.
Mrs. Thurmond is survived by her husband, Ronald and two children, Ron Thurmond & Anne Marie and Holly Thurmond. She has four grandchildren, Hannah Thurmond, Vicotria Garrett, Cody Thurmond and Luke Thurmond. Her surviving siblings are Lent Hunnicutt, Margaret Bell and Sally Lee. Mrs. Thurmond is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family.
The family received friends on Friday from 6-8PM. The funeral service was held on Saturday at 11AM at Apalachee Baptist Church. Interment followed at the Madison City Cemetery.
