Carmen Elizabeth Nystrom, 93, of Marinette, WI passed away Monday, October 31, 2016. She was born January 31, 1923, in Menominee, to the late Abel and Pearl Peterson, residing in the Marinette area all of her life.

She married Walter S. Nystrom on February 6, 1939. They were married for 60 years until his passing in 1999.

Her life was devoted to raising their six children and caring for her husband and family. She enjoyed her time with family and friends. She made holidays and other occasions special with her welcoming personality and great skills in the kitchen. She enjoyed spending time up North at the cabin, fishing, going for walks and being with her grandchildren. She was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and enjoyed country music. Carmen was a longtime member of Pioneer Presbyterian Church in Marinette where she had served as a Deacon.

She has four surviving children and their families: daughter, Joan (Kenneth) Fifarek of Marinette, WI;
sons: Richard (Ellen) Nystrom of Athelstane, WI; Robert (Lorena) Nystrom of Marinette, WI and Rodney (Lisa) Nystrom of Green Bay, WI.
She is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 28 great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Walter, she was preceded in death by son, Walter, Jr.; daughter, Barbara (Nystrom) Burie; grandson, Troy Doyen; great-granddaughter, Sandra Ketchum; and siblings: Olive Pearl Cork, Carol (Robert) Therriault, Ilean (Melvin) Accher and Robert Peterson.

Friends may call at Pioneer Presbyterian Church in Marinette from 12 noon until 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2016. A memorial service will follow with the Rev. Jon Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery.
