Kathryn entered this life on December 17, 1931, in El Centro, California, daughter of the late Dan and Helen (Estrada) Belcher. She was raised in El Centro and Artesia, California. On August 5, 1950, in Van Nuys, California, she was united in marriage to Theodore Roosevelt Heflin and together they shared fifty-five years before his passing on April 12, 2006. She and Theodore remained in California until moving to Pineville, Missouri in 1971. Before retiring from Wal-Mart in 1990, she worked as a dental assistant for Dr. McCready. She enjoyed sewing, working on her computer, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. Kathryn was a member of the Church of the Nativity Catholic Church in Noel, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one brother, Laurence Belcher.
Kathryn is survived by two sons, Theodore L. Heflin of Pineville, Missouri and Ray Heflin and wife, Shirley, of Riverside, California; six grandchildren, Theodore P. Heflin, Daniel Heflin, Michael Heflin, Jennifer Harrison, Kathryn Dyke and Chelsea Heflin; two step-grandchildren, Matt Whorton and Tonya Riggins; sixteen great grandchildren; ten step-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Deloris Shearer of Pineville, Missouri, Vivian Dumond also of Pineville, Gwendolyn Newara of Artesia, California and Elsie Daniels of Idabel, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at Nativity of our Lord Catholic Church in Noel, Missouri with Father Paul McLoughlin officiating. Burial will follow in the Fayetteville National Cemetery. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Theodore P. Heflin, Daniel Heflin, Michael Heflin, Mitch Cook, Matt Whorton and George Dumond. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6-7:00 p.m. in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes.
