DEATH ENDS LIFE JOURNEY OF 81 YEARS
Death, caused by a lingering illness of over two years and infirmities incident to old age today claimed John J. Phillippsen(sic) who passed away at the home of his son and daughter, Anton and Katie at 780 South Twentieth street at 7:30 this morning. The deceased was born eighty-one years ago on January 11 in the Rhine Province of Germany and came to this country in 1886 where he located on a farm three miles south of the city and resided until nine years ago when he retired and came to make his home with his son. His wife preceded him in death ten years ago and he is survived by eight children, two daughters, Miss Katie at home and Mrs. Albert Winters also of this city, four of six sons residing in Detroit, Joseph, Matthew, August and Herman while John Jr. is at Milwaukee and Anton here. Funeral services will be conducted from the St. Paul's Catholic church with the Rev. Jaekel officiating and nine o'clock on Friday morning with burial at the Calvary cemetery.
