Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m., from the Pfeffer funeral
home and at 9:30 from the St. Boniface church, the Rev. Anthony Baier
officiating. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery.
Mr. Pfeffer, nee Caroline Herman, daughter of William and Mary Herman,
was born in this city in 1856 and in 1878 was married to Joseph Pfeffer,
Manitowoc merchant who operated a business on Washington street for
years. He died 16 years ago.
She was a lifelong member of St. Boniface church, and was also a member
of the St. Theresa Aid society, St. Ann-CMA society, and War Mothers.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. J. C. Mueller and Mrs. J. F. Martin,
both of this city; two sons, Joseph and Leonard, both of Manitowoc;
brother, George E. Herman of this city; three sisters, Mrs. Ida Barkhahn,
Mrs. Emma Fischer, Mrs. George Allen, all of this city; 22 grandchildren
and 11 great-grandchildren.
The body will lie in state at the Pfeffer funeral home from this evening
until the hour of services Wednesday. The St. Theresa society will
recite the rosary at the funeral home Tuesday at 2 p.m., the War
Mothers will have a memorial service at 3 p.m. while the St. Ann
society will recite the rosary Tuesday evening at seven o’clock.
