Eileen M. Pfeffer, age 70, of 3510 Michigan Ave., Manitowoc, passed away with her family by her side Wednesday morning, July 5, 2006, at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Daniel Felton. Eileen will be laid to rest next to her deceased children at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. She was born on Dec. 2, 1935, in Manitowoc. Eileen was the daughter of the late Joseph and Irene Mangin Schisel. She attended Holy Innocents Parochial School; was a 1954 graduate of Lincoln High School; and continued her education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, attaining an x-ray technician license. On Aug. 23, 1958, she married Roy T. Pfeffer at Holy Innocents Catholic Church in Manitowoc. She and her husband made their permanent residency in Manitowoc several years after being married. Eileen was a member of the Service League of Manitowoc County, St. Francis of Assisi, and formerly a member of the former Christian Women of Holy Innocents Catholic Church. Eileen was the first lady of the National Funeral Directors Association from 1986 to 1987. Eileen is survived by her husband: Roy T. Pfeffer, Manitowoc; three daughters: Sarah B. Czekala, Mishicot; Rebecca T. Pfeffer, Sedona, Ariz.; Ann M. Pfeffer, rural Manitowoc; two grandchildren: Monica Czekala; Jason Czekala and very special friend, Lisa Erdmann; one great-grandchild: Coi; sister-in-law: Marilyn Pfeffer, rural Manitowoc; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Leonard and Eloise Pfeffer, Manitowoc; nieces, nephews, cousins, along with other relatives and many friends surviving. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son: Michael; one daughter: Deborah; one brother: Jerome; one brother-in-law: Clyde W. Pfeffer; one sister-in-law: Dolores Pfeffer. Relatives and friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Friday (TONIGHT) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. led by Deacon Paul Kieffer which will conclude the visitation. The visitation will continue on Saturday at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo from 9 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11 a.m. The family would appreciate memorials to the Deborah Ann Pfeffer Art Scholarship Fund at Roncalli High School. The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 628 N. Water St., Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements. We will always treasure Mom's wonderful sense of humor and her natural gift of expressing her genuine interest and concern of others. We will remember Mom's favorites: her grandchildren and Coi's hugs, a good lunch with friends, travel, her ""Martha Stewart appreciation to detail"" regarding flower arrangements, table settings and gift wrap, Annie's kids Joey and Peanuts, talks with Fudgeball, funny greeting cards, a good Lifetime channel movie with popcorn, gardenias, poppies and bells of Ireland, meeting with her Bridge Club and never actually opening the cards, rather sharing stories of their families, chocolate, Boston nuts and Pepsi, shopping and her ""collection"" of gold shoes, Ann's red jello and Cindy's cookies, her ""classy flair"" for style, her longtime pals from grade school and high school and Grandma's hot pads. Our family would like to extend our appreciation for all the support and encouragement of family and friends during this time. To the nurses, aides and staff at Shady Lane Transitional Care Unit, for not only the compassionate care given to our Mom, but also for open-heartedly inviting her into your lives.
