Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and
11 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. John Kohnke
will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Plekan was born Dec. 15, 1922, at St. Joseph, Mo., son of the late Harry
and Mary Dmytrik Plekan. He moved to Manitowoc where he married Emma Piefer
Sept. 25, 1943, at St. Boniface Catholic Church. He had been employed at
Kelvinator Commerial Products, Inc. for 25 years and also had been employed at
Mirro Aluminum Company, Plant II. He was a veteran of World War II serving with
the Coast Guard from July 1, 1941 to Sept. 18, 1945.
Survivors include his wife, Emma; four sons and a daughter-in-law, Andrew and Linda Plekan,
John, David and Patrick of Manitowoc; three daughters and sons-in-law, Christian (Tina) and
Keith Bloom, and Mary and Randy Bowen of Manitowoc, and Peggy and David Goertz of
Whitelaw; four sisters, Mrs. Mike (Katy) Gomeck, Mrs. Hazel Miljavic, Mrs. William (Ann)
Whetsell, and Mrs. Paul (Eva) Kovac of St. Joseph, Mo.; and eight grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by a brother, John
Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Home after 9 a.m. Wednesday. Military rites
at Graveside will be accorded by V.F.W. Otto Oas Post No. 659.
