Lake Powers was a beautician and owned her own shop, the Beauty Bowl on West 7th Street, in Fort Worth. She was raised on the Anderson Ranch in Ellis Co., TX where her father, John Buckner Simmons, worked. Her younger brother, J. B. Simmons, was born there. Lake married Elmer Lee Powers and they had one son, Elmer Lee Power, Jr. She was a good bowler and loved attending hockey games.
