Daniel spent much of his childhood living with his mother's sister Sarah Frith Orton."Sarah Frith Orton" she was childless and loved her nephew Dan as if he were her own child.
He was known to have used the surname name Orton while living with his mother's sister and her husband. Attended the U of U
